Recent Crochet Projects

I wanted to share some of the hats I have recently made. The first is called the Diamond Ridges hat.
I found this pattern on Ravelry and started to attempt it last year, but got confused so I put it aside. I came back to it just recently and conquered the pattern. Once I made sense of what it was saying it was no sweat. I believe there are videos on youtube helping to explain some of the rounds when it gets a little confusing.

The next hat is just a simple beanie with an alternating pattern of 4 rounds of single crochet and then a round of double crochet.
Neapolitan Beanie in dark gray, white and yellow
This is the "checkerboard beanie" in red, but instead of using the checkerboard stitch I used a shell stitch. I like how it turned out a lot more than with the checkerboard. I might need a new name for this hat...
A cluster stitch hat in yellow and white
And a teddy bear hat with a puff stitch flower and pink stripes at the bottom.
All of these hats, except for the diamond ridges hat, are baby shower gifts. It's insane how many people are expecting (including myself). Tis' the season!

An Outlet for My Latest Obsession

So, for the longest time I'd heard from various sources that the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins was totally worth reading, but I just hadn't picked up the books yet.

Well, about a month ago, a family that goes to my church let me borrow the first book.

I'm sure you all know what happened next... I read it in like a day and had to keep going.

I borrowed the 2nd book from another church friend after she saw my plea on facebook asking for assistance to my literary "emergency".

After reading that in another short period of time I borrowed the 3rd book from yet another church friend.

I screamed through that one and then actually re-read it so that I could get more closure as I ruminated over it.

Needless to say, I'm a fan.

So what does a gal do when she's finished reading a great series? Re-reads it with her totally awesome husband.

Oh, and maybe make a couple hats inspired by the series as well.
