Today I’m sharing my “Whiskers” pattern.
I had originally done a normal crochet beanie and was going to attach ears, but I liked the look of the square hat better for the cat.
I hook (5.5mm)
Yarn (black, yellow, & white)
with black, ch 44 (leave a long tail to stitch the top closed later)
Join w/ first ch made to create a circle. Make sure your chain isn’t twisted.
Rnd 1: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (44 dc)
Rnd 2-10: repeat round 1 (44 dc)
Rnd 11: ch 1, sc in each stitch around (44 sc)
Now turn hat inside-out.
Using the long tail you from the beginning, whip stitch top of hat closed, tie off and sew in ends.
Turn hat right side out.
Eyes: (make 2)
w/ yellow make a magic circle, ch 2
Rnd 1: 8 hdc in circle, join (8 hdc)
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 hdc in each st, join (16 hdc)
Rnd 3: ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, rep from * around, join & tie off. (24 hdc)
Use your yarn needle and black yarn to stitch pupils.
Attach to hat
I usually stick my hat on a balloon and stitch the corners closed for the ears. You can do this or you can leave them unstitched.
w/ yarn needle and white yarn stitch 3 whiskers on each side.
