Halloween Hat Pattern – Frankie

Happy Halloween! In honor of the holiday I’m posting my last Halloween hat pattern.

The “Frankie” Pattern:

Materials Needed:
I hook (5.5mm)
Yarn needle
Scissors
Yarn (black, green, & light gray)
Felt (black & white)
Needle & thread (black & white)

3-6 month
w/ black make a magic circle, ch 2
Rnd 1: 8 hdc in circle, pull tight, join (8 hdc)
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around, join (16 hdc)
Rnd 3: ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, rep from * around, join (24 hdc)
Rnd 4: ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 st, rep from * aorund, join (32 hdc)
Rnd 5: ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 st, rep from * around, join (40 hdc)
Rnd 6: ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 st, rep from * around, join (48 hdc)

This is where the patten gets a little tricky…
{when it says “3 hdc” that means to hdc in next 3 st, “2 hdc” means hdc in next 2 st, etc. Also, every time you ch 1 you skip a st.}
Rnd 7: ch 2, 3 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc, join & tie off (48 st)

For this next round you will be working double crochets and
drop stitches.
Rnd 8: join w/ green, ch 2, dc in each st around, and each time you come to a ch 1, work a drop stitch in the skipped st from previous round, join. This creates the hair. (48 dc)

Rnd 9-14: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (48 dc)
Rnd 15: ch 1, sc in each st around, join & tie off (48 sc)
(If earflaps are desired add them before rnd 15.)

Metal Studs (Make 2):
w/ gray make a magic circle, ch 2
Rnd 1: 8 hdc in circle, pull tight, join & tie off (8 hdc)
Attach to hat

For eyes, cut out circles of white and black felt and stitch to hat.
For mouth and stitches, use black yarn and needle to stitch on hat.
